GESTURE I get a feeling of despair, a hint of people asking for help. A sense of being trapped and a desire to get help from those on the other side of the glass. The dark shadows behind the handprints leave one with a sense of that this is not one but many, and not a specific group or class but all. MORE DETAIL This was found while on a trip to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. While the truth of the matter is that none of the things that I've stated in the Gesture section above are true....what is true is that left without context and allowing our minds to examine the situation, it often comes up with scenarios on our own. This is the both the power and the curse of art. Powerful in that something so innocuous as handprints on a piece of glass can be interpreted as something heartfelt and meaningful. The curse being that often without context, we can interject our own perceptions, biases and notions onto it. It is important to always try and strive to look for the proper context in all that we see in the world. Context is not always obvious, so strive to get others opinions and seek the sources to find truth. Here, color does matter as the red coloring can give off clues or provide a direction for your thoughts.
